A lifelong resident of Oakland County, Michigan and son of a retired Oakland County attorney, Michael W. Hutson is a graduate of Albion College and Valparaiso University Law School. He has been extensively involved in advising clients and litigating for them in business, real estate, family law, probate, and trust matters since 1968.

Mr. Hutson is a Member of the Family Law and Probate and Trust Law sections of the State Bar of Michigan. He is a current Member and a Past President of the Oakland County Bar Association. He is the Chairman of a Panel of the State Bar of Michigan Attorney Discipline Board and a Mediator for the Oakland County Circuit Court. He is a former Assistant Michigan Attorney General and a former Special Prosecutor of an Oakland County One-man Grand Jury.

Mr. Hutson has been active in community affairs. He is currently a member of the City of Troy Planning Commission and is a former Chairman of the City of Troy Zoning Board of Appeals. He is a member of the Troy Chamber of Commerce and is a past Chairman of the Board. He is a member of the President’s Advisory Council for Walsh College.

Mr. Hutson has written a weekly legal column in The Daily Tribune newspaper since 1990. Further, he has appeared as a legal expert on such programs as Ask the Lawyer, Town Meeting, AM Detroit, and Due Process.
